Water district is upgrading systems

Tualatin Valley Water District (TVWD) has a number of projects scheduled for this summer and into 2026 around our neighborhoods. Several are in subdivisions that were built in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, so the systems serve increased developments and are aging.

Bonny Slope Water Pressure Regulator Valve Project: This summer, TVWD will install a new water pressure regulator valve, vault, and associated piping near the parking lot of the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District’s (THPRD) Bonny Slope Park, south of NW Thompson Road. Work began the week of June 30 and will last until the end of August. Water pressure regulator vaults and piping are crucial for maintaining and controlling water pressure within our distribution system.

THPRD is aware of this project and has coordinated with TVWD to schedule the work before soccer practices and league games begin in August and September, respectively. Work will not occur in the baseball/softball or soccer fields, basketball courts, or paved walking trail that encircles the park.

The project will improve water quality in the area and in the two Bonny Slope Reservoirs, which are located under the soccer fields and walking path at Bonny Slope Park. This investment of about $100,000, funded by water rates, is part of our commitment to making the water system stronger for the community. Learn more: TVWD.org/BonnySlope

123rd Place Water Main Replacement Project: In late 2025, TVWD is scheduled to replace about 800 feet of the current water main beneath NW 123rd Place, south of NW Hartford Street, with new 4-inch and 8-inch ductile iron water main.

Water mains are underground pipes in the street that carry treated drinking water from a water treatment plant to various locations within TVWD’s water service area.

The project will improve the water system in this area by replacing aging infrastructure, upgrading infrastructure with a history of leaks, and improving water and fire flow capacity to the area. This project is a $300,000 investment in the water system, supported by water rates. Learn more: TVWD.org/123rd

Blackhawk Drive Pressure Regular Vault Replacement Project: In early 2026, TVWD will replace an existing water pressure regulator vault and its piping near NW Blackhawk Drive.

In February, TVWD captured high-resolution aerial imaging and video with a drone of NW Blackhawk Drive from approximately NW Talon Terrace to NW 114th Terrace. This footage will play a crucial role in planning a future replacement pressure regulator vault and associated water main project in the neighborhood.

The project will improve the water system in this area by replacing aging infrastructure, ensuring consistent water pressure, and increasing water system efficiency. The budget for this project is still being determined as design and construction details are finalized. Learn more at tvwd.org/Blackhawk.
