TriMet cuts will affect local lines

In late May, TriMet announced that it will make major spending cuts and a historic staffing reduction beginning July 1, 2026, as they continue taking action to address an annual budget deficit, and preserve core transit service for riders and the region, even in the face of rising costs.

Road News: No solution in sight for CHB bike lane

26 on ramp

Neighbors continue to be concerned about the safety of bicyclists trying to get from the intersection of Barnes and Cornell to south of Highway 26 ever since the intersection was redeveloped in 2023. A reader recently shared this, “When crossing Barnes southbound on Cedar Hills Boulevard it becomes a “no-man’s land” for bikes. You get in the way of one of the two south turning lanes and there is just nowhere safe to ride.”

They were concerned for the safety of students crossing there to get to the French International School south of Cornell. We got this response from Washington County.

January storm hits hard in Cedar Mill

Forecasts were calling for colder temperatures and the possibility of snow from January 10, 2024. The month had started off with mild temperatures and rain. As the weekend approached, some were skeptical. We’ve been fooled before with the promise of snow. But by Saturday, January 13, temperatures had fallen into the 20s and winds had picked up. Moist air from the coast met freezing arctic air right over Portland. It often seemed to be snowing sideways, and it piled up in drifts against fences and buildings.
