Enjoy live music and Halloween fun at the 1st Street Dining Commons, SW Washington Ave and SW 1st St. Show off those costumes all day long! After trick-or-treating, head to Breakside Brewery from 4–5 PM for our Costume Contest & Family Dance Party, with prize and special guest judges. Upgrades underway for Beaverton Transit Center

TriMet is making a series of improvements designed to create a more comfortable, welcoming and reliable experience for riders. Construction has been underway for the past several months. Once completed in spring 2027, it will include new digital signs, along with audible text-to-speech devices; enhanced lighting and additional security cameras to improve visibility and support a safer environment; more space for buses; and more accessibility infrastructure, including ramps, tactile strips and wayfinding.
Beaverton Transit Center (BTC) will remain open throughout construction, with MAX, WES and buses serving riders. Riders may notice temporary location changes for bus stops as work progresses.
For its first 10 years, BTC served as a bus layover and transfer facility. With the opening of the Westside MAX Project in 1998, which extended light rail from Downtown Portland to Beaverton and Hillsboro, it was expanded to accommodate trains. Today, it serves seven regular bus lines, MAX Blue and Red lines and WES commuter rail. More information is available here.
Korean Language After-School Program Launches at Westview
K-Pop fans: This one’s for you! “Explore Korean” at Westview High School is the first after-school program in an Oregon public school that’s focused on helping students learn to speak, listen, read and write in Korean.
Grant funding from the Korean Education Center in Seattle is providing 24 students with the opportunity to enjoy after-school games, activities, and projects focused on Korean culture, including K-Pop, K-dramas and more. Learn more about the “Explore Korean” program on the Beaverton School District website.
Hockey in sneakers? Try floorball in Beaverton

By David Slater, founder, Portland Floorball Club
Thursdays. 7-9 pm, PDX Fieldhouse,. 11040 SW Allen Blvd.
Cedar Mill and Bethany residents looking for a new way to stay active can try floorball–essentially non-contact hockey in sneakers, played with lightweight sticks and a plastic ball. Portland Floorball Club, a local nonprofit, hosts game nights every Thursday. Men and women ages 16-60+ are welcome, including complete beginners. The first visit is free, and equipment is available!
Our motto is “Competitive but Kind.” We host lively games where people enjoy the competition while helping newcomers find their footing. You don’t need a hockey background or a thorough knowledge of floorball rules to join in. You also don’t need to organize a team or persuade a group of friends to sign up. Come on your own, bring a friend, or try it with an older teenager in the family.Weekly games offer a chance to spend time together doing something you might never have considered. And it’s a fun way to get your cardio in!
There’s no membership fee–we use a “pay when you play” model. Your first visit is on us, and subsequent game nights cost $20. Playing indoors also means the rainy season doesn’t have to interrupt your plans. Visit portlandfloorball.org for more information about the club, including how to register for game nights–space is limited, and we can’t accommodate unannounced drop-ins. Anyone under 16 who is interested in floorball should contact Matt at the Field House, matt@pdxfieldhouse.com for information about forthcoming Youth Floorball programs.
Floss & Run

Sunday, October 18, 8:30-10 am, Rock Creek Country Club, 5100 NW Neakahnie Av., register here
The Sunday before Halloween candy collection is a great time to floss and then run/walk to raise funds for children’s free dental care and education on the Tooth Taxi!
Runners and walkers will have an opportunity to learn to floss before their respective races. In addition to a re-useable swag bag with a Tooth Taxi headband, dental- and health-related items, a raffle ticket, and free entry into a putting contest, each finisher receives a medal, and there are medals for the top three finishers in each age category. Age categories and registration fees are on the registration page.
The Dental Foundation of Oregon’s Tooth Taxi is on the road 48 weeks a year, providing free dental care and education to children who are uninsured, underinsured, unhoused, rural-based, and/or experiencing a dental emergency. In 2025, the Tooth Taxi team cared for 1,027 children at 32 schools/neighborhood centers, worth nearly $634,000 in free services. The Dental Foundation of Oregon is the fundraising arm of the Oregon Dental Association. For more information, go to dentalfoundationoforegon.org.

New licensing system available for county dogs
Dog licensing in Washington County just got a major upgrade. Washington County Animal Services is partnering with DocuPet, a pet registration and lost pet recovery service, to provide residents with a better licensing experience. Dog owners should expect an email or letter from DocuPet about this new partnership.
A key advantage of DocuPet is its HomeSafe lost pet service. Every license includes a unique DocuPet tag linked to a secure online pet profile. If a pet goes missing, finders can quickly reference the code to connect with DocuPet’s dispatch team, who works around the clock to reunite pets with their families. Dog owners also have the option of personalizing their pet’s tag, a feature not previously available.
All dogs in Washington County must be licensed. Those that aren’t licensed are subject to a $160 citation. Discounts are offered for multiyear licenses, and spayed or neutered dogs. Proof of a current rabies vaccination is required for the license to be valid.
Pet owners who renew their previously expired dog license before the end of October will not be charged a late fee. More information and a link to the DocuPet platform are available at WashingtonCountyDogLicense.com, click the Purchase or Renew button.

WCSO Watch: Fall Safety Guide
Fall Safety Tips
- Always be aware of your surroundings. Be vigilant about who or what is around you.
- Wear reflective clothing if walking, running, or biking while outdoors in low-light conditions.
- Secure your home by locking all entry points (doors, windows, garages) and turning on lights, cameras, alarms, and motion sensors. Lock your vehicle, park in a safe location, and remove valuables from sight to avoid potential break-ins. Bring in valuables from your car, yard, or patio to deter theft.
- Protect yourself from mail theft: Use a secure locked mailbox and check it daily. Opt for direct deposits and paperless statements when possible.
Remember to stay safe and be aware of locations and situations that could make you vulnerable to crime. Report suspicious activity to your local police. Call 911 for emergencies and 503-629-0111 for non-emergencies. You can also file a police report online if the crime fits the reporting requirements.

E-Bikes
Many of you have concerns about the use of e-bikes, e-scooters and dirt bikes around the county. Last month the Sheriff’s Office created an online traffic complaint form specifically to raise awareness and keep a record of concerns about these motorized vehicles usage. Use this link to Report Reckless E-Bike Behavior. Learn more about county rules and get advice on the E-Bike, E-Scooter, and E-Dirt Bike Safety page.
