Portland: tell PGE that Forest Park is not for sale!
Last May the Portland City Council voted 12-0 to deny PGE’s application to log 4.7 acres of Forest Park to upgrade power lines. They unanimously rejected PGE’s application agreeing with a City staff report, Forest Park Conservancy (FPC), and Forest Park Neighborhood Association (FPNA) testimony that the project violates the Forest Park Natural Resource Management Plan–long-standing public policy that protects Forest Park from non-park related development, requiring adherence to strict land-use criteria designed to project this important public resource.
“Beyond Ready” with 4-H
The theme of the 2026 National 4-H Week (October 4-10) “Beyond Ready,”reminds us that 4-H challenges young people to grow a generation ready to become engaged, successful, independent and interdependent productive adults. “Head, Hearts, Hands and Health” has expanded far from its strong agricultural roots, and today 4-H helps young people explore the real world around them by providing experiences to learn by doing using emerging research for positive youth development. 4-H is recognized for the significant impact it makes by empowering youth with the skills they need for a lifetime.

Cedar Mill Cider Festival—on Saturday this year!
Everyone is invited to gather again for the 18th celebration of food, music, history, and community! Sponsored by Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District, the event has been bringing folks together for fun and learning since 2007. The small park surrounds the historic John Quincy Adams & Elizabeth Constable Young House that was built in the 1860s next to the mill that gave the community its name.
Cedar Mill News Group brings neighbors together
Since 2011, in addition to our Facebook page, we have had an active group where members can post questions, news, requests for recommendations, and more. The Cedar Mill News Group was formed to allow our neighbors to talk to each other, unlike the page where only I can post. We now have nearly 8000 members! Members post public safety alerts, road conditions, lost and found pets, and more.
