What lies beyond the boundaries of the familiar? The artists in Beyond the Stars each answer this question differently, through theatrical creatures, surreal landscapes, speculative futures, and the depths of outer space. Together, they construct elsewheres that ask viewers to step outside the immediate and inhabit a space removed from the everyday. Visit the event webpage for more details about the artists or to see sample artwork.

She brings an eye for composition, design and color to her role as juror and judge for regional exhibitions.

Featured 3D Artist: Allan Wells
Allan’s career has always involved caring for trees working in Parks and Recreation and specializing as a Municipal Arborist. In retirement, he became inspired by using wood as a medium for art and its endless possibilities. “It takes years to visualize unique shapes or discover a utility value in what you are making. Experience teaches there is always a way; you have to step back to see it.”

Featured Big and Bold: Ana Roeszler
“During the early days of covid, my world felt very small… Neighborhood walks became a respite from the monotony and social isolation. I began to notice the beauty of simple things like the trees I passed. This painting was an attempt to capture the beauty, stillness, and underlying anxiety of that time.”
