Westside Trail

Imagine a 25-mile-long trail extending from the Tualatin River to the Willamette River! That’s the vision embodied in the 1992 Metropolitan Greenspaces Master Plan. Much of the trail is within the boundaries of Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District (THPRD). Since 2008 park bond measures have included funding to complete various segments of the trail. Much of the trail has been built and utilizes power line rights of way.
The latest focus area will connect NW Greenbrier Parkway to NW Cornell Rd. (trail segments 14 and 16-18). That requires a pedestrian bridge spanning Highway 26 (Sunset Highway). In June, a community meeting was held to present the Preferred Alignment Concept Plan and answer questions. The presentation is available here, and includes details on how the trail would pass through neighborhoods, be accessed at various points, and allow for wetland crossing and grade changes. Many neighbors attended and shared their concerns about privacy, traffic, and parking.

swampy areas (wetlands) so boardwalks will be included
The bridge will be very expensive, and funding is only available for planning work at this point. Anticipated construction of trail segments 14 and 16-18 is anticipated to begin Summer 2030 to Fall 2032 if all permits and grant funding has been obtained.
