Cedar Mill and Bethany Community Libraries Association has served its community, providing books and media, education and entertainment, for over 50 years. As a 501(c)3 non-profit, the Library Association is governed by an 11-member volunteer board of directors, who provide critical intellectual capital and strategic resources to guide the library and shepherd its success. The library is accepting applications now to fill two openings on the board. See what it’s all about! Board meetings are open to the public the third Tuesday of each month. You are cordially invited to the next meeting: Tuesday, January 20, 7-8 pm, CML, 1080 NW Saltzman Rd.

For many people, serving on a board allows them to make a difference in their community and support a cause that they care about. At the library, it is also a chance to experience and influence, from a high level, the operations of a $5-million non-profit organization. Through their service, board members expand their network of peers and community leaders, opening new avenues for personal and professional growth.

We invite everyone to get cozy and read this winter. Help us reach our community goal to read 1,000 books! Participants will be entered into prize drawings for local gift cards. Count your reading and activities on a paper log available at either library or log your reading with the Beanstack app. Participants will have the chance to win gift cards to local businesses including Piccolo Mondo Toys and Oaks Park. Learn more and register at library.cedarmill.org/read-now.

Come enjoy some popular opera hits and learn details about the song and the opera from which it originates. Opera on Tap is the largest network of operatic performing artists in the country, and an international non-profit. Born in Brooklyn in 2005, we take a local, grassroots and very fun approach to community outreach in the name of our art form, meeting people in the bar, pub, and community spaces that feel like home.
