“Bloom” community housing approved.
Washington County Department of Land Use and Development (LUT) approved the proposed development of a supportive housing complex for adults with neurodiversity and developmental disabilities. “Bloom! A We Built Community” was designed by a group of parents who want to provide supportive housing for their family members that will enable them to live independently in a safe environment while receiving appropriate services.
Jonathan and Elissa Ryan Morris, who are leading the group of parents, anticipated an appeal after facing neighborhood opposition, but the deadline of September 23 has passed without one. A previous apartment development was appealed by the neighbors, and the property owner eventually sold the land to the parents’ group. The approval is “with conditions,” which is typical for most development proposals, but none appear to be prohibitive. If anyon has questions, contact bloom.awebuiltcommunity@gmail.com
