Westside Singers performs choral music from the Great American Songbook, jazz standards, and Broadway favorites. They are also available for community and nonprofit fundraising events and galas. Retirement communities and organizations in the Portland metro area can inquire about booking performances by emailing secretary@westsidesingers.org.
The group was founded in 1945 in Forest Grove, shortly after World War II. They began as the “Forest Grove Gleemen,” a small ensemble of singers formed in the post-war years. In the 1960s, women were invited to join. Over the past 80+ years, it has grown into Westside Singers, a vibrant community chorus serving Washington County and the greater Portland area.
We always welcome new voices! If you enjoy jazz, pop, big band standards, and classic Broadway, we invite you to learn more about joining us. For membership and audition information, please contact our director, Cathy Bleecker at director@westsidesingers.org.
We also recently launched a Westside Seniors choir, designed for those who prefer daytime rehearsals. This group is open to all voices and does not require an audition. The group rehearses on Mondays in Beaverton. For more information, contact seniors@westsidesingers.org.
Member Karen Snyder says, “Being part of Westside Singers brings together a shared love of music and community. Our rehearsals foster connection, and our performances celebrate the timeless joy of singing together. When I joined, I found a true community—a family. Our choir isn’t just about performance—it’s about connection. I especially love performing for memory care communities.”
