New Businesses February 2026

Both of this month’s featured new businesses have been in the community for some time, but one has moved, renamed, and changed its focus a bit, and the other has a new bricks-and-mortar location. We hope everyone has a chance to visit and welcome them to the neighborhood!

Mandy (right) loves to talk wine with customers.

Mandy Stark and her sister took over The Wine Cellar in 2023, after it had relocated to the “triangle” center from the space where Walgreens is now. Last fall, Mandy bought out her sister, and in December 2024 opened in a new space down the way, in the south end of the shopping center, and renamed the business.

Mandy says, “The new space I’ve moved into is a more cozy and intimate location, I designed it and personalized the selections, and I just thought it was time to claim it as my own. Bouchon means ‘cork’ in French. All the good English wine names were already taken, so I went to my favorite region for inspiration. The focus is still wine of course, but with the new location it is definitely more wine bar friendly, so there is more of a focus on the wine pour selections then before.”

Cozy seating is a perfect place to gather with friends.

Bottle selections line the walls, with both local and global choices at affordable prices. Mandy and her employees are happy to help you choose something you’ll love, whether for a dinner you’re planning or just to discover something new.

You can enjoy a glass or two at a variety of seating areas including comfy chairs near the window, tables in the middle, and stools at the bar. They usually have 8-9 bottles open to choose from. If you want to nibble while you sip, they have “small bite” boxes from Sprig & Spread, or you’re welcome to bring in food from local restaurants.

They are happy to help you plan a private event for friends or business associates. The Cedar Mill Business Association has been hosting meetings there, and a Happy Hour—the next one is Thursday, February 4 at 4:30, guests welcome.

They host Friday Flight Nights every week from 5-8 pm. Whether it be a visiting winemaker or a themed flight, it’s a guaranteed good time! Some recent themes were “Big, Bold, & Brawny,” and “Plenty of Pinots.” Flights are $25 or waived with a two-bottle purchase. Abacela Winery is visiting February 6, and both an Italian winery and a French winery will be visiting in March. Follow them on Instagram or sign up for the newsletter to see what they’re planning.

Visit their website (a work in progress) or call 503-643-5655 for more information.

Dana’s Breads was a familiar and much-loved booth at the Cedar Mill Farmers Market before opening its brick-and-mortar bakery last August. Today, the shop offers an inviting mix of naturally fermented breads, pastries, espresso, wine, juices, and other thoughtfully chosen treats. Customers can stop by the store or place orders in advance through their website.

Dana shared how the journey began. “In 2014, I participated in a sourdough bread-making workshop with a friend, and I was amazed by how flour, water, and salt could evolve into something so special. We moved here from Israel in 2015, and not long after that I started baking bread at home. I fell in love with the process and began sharing it with friends.

The feedback was overwhelming, and many people asked if I would sell it, so I decided to try the Farmers Market. The response there was incredible, and I realized I wanted to share it with more people in our community. Opening a local bread house in our neighborhood felt like the right way to do that. That’s what led us to open the store. I wanted to create something different—a place that connects people and offers products I truly believe in.”

In addition to their sourdough breads, they are very proud of their traditional Challah, one of their signature products, which led to a whole line of yeasted items such as buns, pocket pitas, and breadsticks.

They offer many vegan options, especially their sourdough breads. Many customers with gluten sensitivity report that traditionally made, slow-fermented sourdough is easier for them to enjoy, and some have found Dana’s Breads works well for their needs.

Dana makes the bread and pastries with the help of a couple of part-time staff members and, occasionally her children. They are currently looking for additional part-time help to join the bread house team, and interested applicants are encouraged to stop by.

They serve Umbria coffee, a Seattle-based roaster, and also sell packaged coffee to take home. A small selection of beer, wine, and cider is available by the glass to enjoy at the counters in front of the store, or by the bottle to go. They also offer tea, juices, and a few healthy snack options.

They have a well-designed and informative website that allows customers to order products in advance. Because everything is baked fresh, some bread varieties may sell out before the end of the day. The bakery also accommodates larger orders for catering or parties and offers weekly or bi-weekly bread subscriptions.

In addition to selling their products, they host special events such as wine tastings, pizza nights, workshops, and bakery tours. Their next event is a Valentine’s Day wine tasting on February 12 from 5-7 pm.

They are located in the small center at the northeast corner of Thompson and Saltzman, with parking available. For questions, feel free to call or text 503-333-8043.
