Crash at Oregon State Credit Union

On July 10, a car crashed into the space in the Timberland Center where Oregon State Credit Union is preparing their new location.

Jim Gibson, Chief Operating Officer, published this statement. “We are grateful that no one was injured as a result of the July 10 accident. While the branch sustained damage, we do not anticipate any impact to our planned August soft opening or the September 12 Grand Opening celebration. We’re excited to begin serving local residents, businesses, and Oregon State Credit Union members, and remain on track to open as soon as possible once the space is fully restored and ready to welcome members. We also invite the community to join us for our Grand Opening celebration on September 12 from 10 am-2 pm. at Timberland Town Center, next to Market of Choice.”

From The Fraud Files

By Dot Defler, Sunset Credit Union

Recently, I received a call from “The Federal Court” claiming I failed to appear for a Grand Jury summons. The caller from a private number demanded I come in for a signature verification. Judging by the callers’ accent and lack of legal knowledge, it was clearly fraud. They didn’t reach the part about bitcoin payments, but it was coming. Your address is easily found online—it doesn’t prove legitimacy. Federal agencies will not call you; they send a summons via mail or visit in person. It is 100% okay to hang up. If unsure, call the actual agency using a number from their official website. Don’t be a victim. The team at Sunset Credit Union spends hours on cybersecurity training. If you are unsure about a call, email, or letter, call us—we can help.
