bandito taco

Since 1990, Cedar Mill neighbors have enjoyed the “healthy Mexican food” from Bandito Taco, a small restaurant in the Safeway-anchored mall at Cornell & Murray. Owners Ahmad and Sahar Kouklani have decided to retire and move to Arizona. Their popular fresh salsa will still be available at the Grocery Outlet stores as someone has the production rights.

The newest location of the popular Oregon chain of fast and healthy food will join the lineup at the Milltowner Center (northeast corner of Saltzman & Cornell) sometime this spring. Café Yumm! started in the Eugene area in 1997, after founders Mark and Mary Ann Beauchamp transitioned from Wild Rose, their initial business. The concept and menu developed over the years as they expanded throughout the Willamette Valley and into Bend.

While some of the locations are franchises, the Cedar Mill restaurant will be owned and operated by the company. It will be “first restaurant to showcase Café Yumm!’s new interior design and guest experience,” says Marketing Director Ted Morgan.

Known for their bowls that combine rice with vegetable and meat toppings, they also serve wraps, bento, soups, salads and more. Their Yumm! Sauces and dressings will also be available. They plan to have indoor seating for around 30 guests with some outside seating in good weather. Online ordering will be available for takeout and delivery.

After a very long wait, and some uncertainty, the original owners and chef are returning to their restored space on Cornell just west of Bethany Boulevard. They plan to be open by the beginning of November. Along with the refurbished kitchen and dining space, their online ordering system has been revamped. The menu features some familiar Chinese food but they specialize in the spicy Sichuan dishes that are so popular, along with “The Wild Side” selection of more exotic appetizers and main dishes. One of the farmers brought a calf to the market in October!

We have come to the end of another wonderful season at the Cedar Mill Farmers Market! Over the season, we had over 50 different vendors selling a variety of products. On our final market day, we had more than 10 youth entrepreneurs selling their handmade crafts!

We want to thank all of our wonderful vendors, volunteers, sponsors, community partners, and patrons for making the market possible! It was lovely to see familiar faces stopping by every week, as well as new folks excited about purchasing fresh produce and supporting local businesses. If you enjoyed your time at the market this year, please take a moment to fill out our Customer Experience Survey. We would greatly appreciate it!

We hope to see you all again next season!
